This video is to support the launch of a report: The State of Cold Calling in 2024. The idea of this report is to show that cold calling still works for salespeople, it's just changed. So what worked a year ago or two years ago, isn't relevant now. The report covers lots of different data points to tell the story.
Here's the idea for the video: A Sales Dev Rep (SDR) is sat at their desk, with their headset on. They’re cold calling, and getting nowhere on the phone.
They have a chat with their manager, who recommends that the SDR checks out “The State of Cold Calling for 2024: A Research Report by Cognism
The SDR then starts implementing some of the techniques and recommendations, and experiences success on the phones.
Just a note on the time: whilst clicked 30-60 seconds if it goes over this not a huge deal!

Creator will play both parts of the SDR and Manager. Starting with opening scene: SDR sat at their desk, having one failed conversation after another. Examples of the phrases could be: “If I could just explain why you need this”…prospect hangs up; “I know it's first thing on a Monday morning but if I could just explain…” - prospect hangs up etc. Look confused, not sure as to why this is happening.
Next Scene: 1 hour later... SDR comes back from a break, walks back to the desk, and sees a Slack/Teams message pop up on their laptop from their manager. It reads 'Hey! Free for 5?' SDR's face fills with panic - thinking it's never a good sign when this message comes through. Reluctantly, types a reply, 'Yeah Sure'.
Next Scene: Then filming from the perspective of the manager, speaking to the SDR. Manager is saying to the SDR that the tactics they're using on the phone are outdated, not really working as intended. But they're going to send something over that'll help.
Back to the perspective of the SDR - checks the inbox and sees the subject line: The State of Cold Calling in 2024: A Research Report by Cognism. Decides to give the insights a read.
Next Scene: It's the next day - the SDR has read the report and decided to try some of the advice. Starts calling, and encounters a prospect. “I can totally shoot over an email - whilst I've got you on the phone, shall we book some time in for tomorrow, to go through the email? That way, if you've got any questions we can work through them together?"
The SDR is amazed that the prospect actually says yes, and wants to have a conversation. Sense of pride and happiness that this response to the objection actually worked.
