My friend couldn’t stop talking about Nonna Tonda and their pasta so I had to try them myself and oh my God, their pasta is sooo good. I immediately fell in love with the brand and its pasta. Nonna Tonda is a pasta delivery service. James first became acquainted with the vast and varied world of pasta during an apprenticeship at the Michelin-starred restaurant in Moderna, L’Erba del Re. As a result, his wife Rebecca and him packed up the contents of their little flat and set off with their six-month old baby, Freddie, on a road trip to Italy in 2017. Their friends and families thought they were mad, but those months on the road cooking and tasting as much pasta as possible resulted in the creation of Nonna Tonda in 2020.
They travelled extensively, learning about the history of dishes and trying recipes they had never heard of. They bought ingredients from local markets and recreated and adapted recipes somewhat chaotically in their Airbnb kitchen whilst Freddie slept nearby. Rebecca and James discovered so much variety in the regional dishes they sampled. From the richer egg pastas of the north to the semolina pastas of the south, they couldn’t wait to start making and sharing their pasta with everyone.

Nonna Tonda is a young family business, with founders James and Rebecca at the heart of the brand. We use playful, sometimes absurd illustrations and language, often depicting lighthearted parodies and interpretations of Italian food and art. We are appreciators and admirers of Italian culture, and want to share it with others in a fun and unique way. Our tone of voice is playful, and should feel like a close friend or family member. The audience may not always know a lot about fresh pasta so our copywriting should be informative and exciting without being dry or overindulgent
